Case Study: Project Wonderstone
``Your work has been well received and we appreciate the effort you have put into this project``
Overview:
Assore Ltd selected Practara to perform a strategic analysis of their pyrophyllite mining and manufacturing operation in South Africa. Through a process called HPHT, pyrophyllite is used as the heat and pressure transmitting medium in the manufacturing of synthetic diamonds. Assore required a view of the “art of the possible” for their operation to determine whether an investment in an aggressive growth strategy would produce a palatable business case for the company.
Scope of Work:
Developed a dynamic options evaluation model leveraging off data from operations as well as market-related inputs and assumptions.
Performed high-level sensitivity and scenario analyses to gauge the likelihood of attainting the free cashflow targets set by the client.
Utilising a combination of cost estimation methods, we developed an activity-based operating cost model to assist with the identification of the high-margin products and those with favourable economies of scale.
Performed an as-is value chain analysis of the operation to highlight the key constraints and value destructive activities in the operation.
Successfully managed a team of specialist associates to gain a holistic understanding of the business from operations through to marketing and sales.
