Case Study: Project Golpu
Overview:
Wafi-Golpu is an advanced Copper/Gold Greenfields project in Papua New Guinea with excellent reserves. Practara was appointed to conduct the FS-level operating cost estimate for the project’s life of mine, which was successfully completed in February 2018. As of January 2020, the project remains in the permitting phase having applied for a special mining lease from the PNG government.
Scope of Work:
In collaboration with the mining engineering and design teams, developed a detailed bulk caving cost model.
Utilising a first principles approach to costing, developed a detailed operating cost model for the process plant with inputs from the process engineering team.
Utilising a zero-based approach to costing, developed a detailed labour cost model in line with the mine's operating philosophy and shift cycle arrangement.
Utilising a combination of cost estimation methods, developed the life of mine stay-in-business capital requirements for the Project.
